About Dronesgator
Our Story
Dronesgator started in October 2015 as DronesBuyer.com. I (Paul Posea) bought my first toy drone, realized how hard it was to find honest comparisons, and started writing reviews to fill the gap. By 2017, the site had outgrown its name, so I rebranded to Dronesgator.com and expanded into video with a YouTube channel that now has 17,000+ subscribers and 195 drone review videos.
Over the past decade, I've gone from reviewing budget toy drones to building a full research platform that covers 37+ drone models, 71 accessories, 148 head-to-head comparisons, drone laws for all 50 US states and 20+ countries, and free interactive tools for pilots.
How Our Analysis Works
We don't write traditional single-reviewer opinions. Instead, every drone on Dronesgator goes through a structured analysis process:
- Spec verification. We pull official specs from the manufacturer and cross-check them against multiple sources.
- User feedback aggregation. We collect real owner opinions from forums, Reddit, YouTube comments, and review sites to identify what people actually love and what concerns come up most often.
- Expert cross-referencing. We review analysis from established YouTube reviewers and tech publications to validate performance claims.
- Standardized ratings. Every drone is scored on the same 7 criteria (camera quality, ease of use, build quality, features, portability, value for money, and overall rating) so comparisons are apples-to-apples.
This data-driven approach means our recommendations are based on broad consensus, not a single flight test on a single day. You get the full picture. For the complete breakdown, see our full methodology page.
