Autel EVO Lite+ vs DJI Air 3S
Specs, camera quality, and ratings compared · Updated 2026
Two 1-inch sensor drones from different ecosystems at different price points. The Air 3S costs $1,099 and is currently available.
The EVO Lite+ launched at $1,149 but is discontinued and selling at clearance for $800-900. The Air 3S has dual cameras, LiDAR, and 10-bit video.
The EVO Lite+ has variable aperture, no geofencing, and 8-bit video. One is DJI's current mid-range. The other is a clearance deal on capable hardware with no long-term support.
Pros & Cons
Autel EVO Lite+
- 1-inch CMOS sensor with variable aperture f/2.8-f/11 gives real depth-of-field control and lets you manage shutter speed in bright sun without swapping ND filters
- No geofencing restrictions let pilots take off in zones where DJI drones refuse to launch. This is the most-cited reason owners choose Autel
- 40-minute battery life holds up in practice, with owners consistently reporting 35+ minutes per charge
- 6K/30fps and 4K/60fps recording from the 1-inch sensor produces footage that holds up in professional editing workflows
- 12-bit RAW DNG stills and Moonlight Algorithm with ISO up to 64,000 deliver low-light photography that rivals drones at twice the price
- Level 7 wind resistance with a sturdy foldable frame that handles coastal and elevated shoots without trouble
- FAA Remote ID compliant via firmware update and EU C1 certified, keeping it legal for regulated commercial use through its support window
- Discontinued. Autel exited consumer drones in July 2025. Firmware support runs through July 2030, but no replacement is coming and stock is limited to whatever's left on shelves
- 8-bit color depth with no true D-Log or configurable color profile, making advanced color grading significantly harder than on DJI drones shooting 10-bit
- Subject tracking (Dynamic Track 2.1) only follows people, not vehicles, boats, or animals. It loses lock frequently during fast movement or with complex backgrounds
- Autel Sky app is buggy and inconsistently available on app stores, sometimes requiring a QR-code download from Autel's website
- Customer support is consistently described as poor by owners, with warranty claims denied and repair quotes that exceed the drone's clearance price
- 3-way obstacle avoidance covers only front, rear, and bottom and stops the drone rather than navigating around objects like DJI's APAS system
- FCC Covered List: Autel is also a Shenzhen-based Chinese company, facing the same US regulatory uncertainty as DJI
DJI Air 3S
- Dual camera with a 1-inch wide sensor and 3x 70mm telephoto gives you two focal lengths without moving the drone
- LiDAR omnidirectional obstacle sensing detects obstacles down to 1 lux, making night and dusk flights practical
- ActiveTrack 360° with Cycling Mode follows subjects through complex environments while you control the path with a touch wheel
- 45-minute flight time is among the longest in any consumer drone, giving real session length without battery swaps
- 42GB internal storage plus microSD means you won't lose a session to a forgotten card
- DJI O4 transmission holds a stable 1080p feed out to distances you'd never actually need
- Level 5 wind resistance (12 m/s) handles coastal and mountain gusts that would ground a Mini-series drone
- 10-bit D-Log M and HLG color profiles give editors real latitude in post without 8-bit banding
- 724g means FAA registration is required in the US, even for recreational use
- Fixed aperture on both lenses means you need ND filters to control shutter speed in bright conditions
- $1,099 base price, and the total investment with a Fly More Combo hits $1,599
- Bulkier and heavier than the entire Mini series, doesn't fit in a jacket pocket or small bag
- No true vertical video rotation like the Mini 5 Pro. Vertical mode is a crop, which wastes sensor resolution
- Telephoto lens has a smaller 1/1.3-inch sensor, so low-light quality drops noticeably when zoomed in
- US availability is complicated by FCC Covered List restrictions, pushing buyers to third-party retailers
Price Range
The Air 3S costs $1,099 for the standard kit with full US availability and DJI warranty. The EVO Lite+ has an MSRP of $1,149 but Autel exited consumer drones in July 2025.
Remaining stock sells for $800-900 through Amazon and clearance outlets. At clearance pricing, the EVO Lite+ saves $200-300 versus the Air 3S.
At MSRP, the Air 3S is the better value because it has dual cameras, LiDAR, 10-bit video, and active manufacturer support.

Camera System
- Air 3S: two cameras (1-inch main + 70mm telephoto), 10-bit D-Log M video
- EVO Lite+: one camera with 1-inch sensor, variable aperture f/2.8-f/11, 8-bit video with no D-Log
The variable aperture is the EVO Lite+'s genuine advantage. It gives depth-of-field control and handles bright sun without ND filters. The Air 3S needs ND filters for the same conditions.
Obstacle Avoidance
The Air 3S has LiDAR omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. The EVO Lite+ has 3-directional detect-and-stop without LiDAR.
Battery and Weight
- Battery: 45 minutes (Air 3S) versus 40 minutes (EVO Lite+)
- Weight: 724g (Air 3S) versus 835g (EVO Lite+)
- Neither is sub-250g
The Air 3S has no geofencing issues in DJI's latest firmware. The EVO Lite+ never had geofencing, which was its main selling point. Autel is also a Shenzhen-based company on the FCC Covered List.
Choose the Air 3S if:
- You want a real estate drone with current manufacturer support
- You need dual cameras with a telephoto for architectural details
- LiDAR obstacle avoidance matters for flying around suburban properties
- You shoot video and need 10-bit D-Log M for professional editing
DJI warranty and parts availability mean the drone will be supported for years.
Choose the EVO Lite+ if:
- You find one at clearance ($800-900) and primarily shoot stills
- You want variable aperture for all-day property shoots without ND filter swapping
- You need a 40-minute battery for extended shooting sessions
The 8-bit video limitation means video work belongs on the Air 3S. The discontinued status means firmware support ends in July 2030 with no replacement parts after that.
Our Verdict
The Air 3S at $1,099 for anyone buying a real estate drone today. Better camera system, better obstacle avoidance, better video capability, and manufacturer support that isn't going away. The EVO Lite+ at $800-900 clearance if you shoot primarily stills and want the variable aperture workflow advantage. The image quality is good. Just understand you're buying end-of-life hardware.
