Every DJI drone has a serial number printed on the physical aircraft, but the exact location varies by model. The Mini series hides it under the front left arm. The Air and Mavic series print it inside the battery compartment. Controllers have their own serial numbers on the back panel near the USB-C port. Knowing where to look saves time when you need the number for FAA registration, DJI Care Refresh activation, warranty claims, or theft reports.
The serial number is also accessible through the DJI Fly app when the drone is connected and powered on. But relying solely on the app is risky: if the drone is lost, stolen, or will not power on, you need to have the number recorded elsewhere. This guide covers the physical location for every current DJI model, the app method, controller serial numbers, and how to use the serial number for FAA registration.
If you have already lost your serial number entirely, the original product box has a barcode label with the same number. DJI also stores it in your DJI account under Device Management if the drone was ever connected to the app while logged in.
